
Joe Miley went to meet his Lord and Savior face to face on Friday, May 19th during his morning nap at the age of 95. Joe was born in Bicknell, Indiana on June 21, 1921. Twenty years later he married his wife of 69 years Barbara Miley; five months later he was drafted into the Army where he remained until October 1945.
During his enlistment in World War II, Joe fought with the 158th Combat Engineers and saw heavy combat in five major battles. His battalion received the Presidential Unit Citation for their efforts at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
Joe worked for Eli Lilly and Company for 41 years in insulin when at his retirement he had become head of all insulin production due to his hard work ethic.
Joe is survived by one son Mike and daughter-in-law Sherry; two grandsons David and Nathan; and five great-granddaughters Myra, Talayla, Nieva, Lena Bea, and Sibby.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Castleview Church where Joe had been an active member for 58 years.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Castleview Church, 8601 Hague Road, Indianapolis at 5:30 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 4 pm. A private burial will take place. Arrangements: Indiana Funeral Care
